Alexis & Michael's Simple & Sweet Courthouse Wedding - York, PA

ALEXIS & MICHAEL

My brother-in-law, Michael, got married on Wednesday! It was originally supposed to be a wedding celebration including both families and friends, however, due to COVID-19, their plan was forced to change. While the rest of the intended guests were not able to be there (stinking virus), my husband and I were still able to witness (and photograph) Alexis & Michael's simple and sweet courthouse wedding.

Due to concerns about the virus, the officiant stayed behind the glass and they stayed in the waiting room while he completed the ceremony. Definitely not ideal as far as photos go, but hey, it'll be one funny story to tell their kids someday! No crazy coronavirus can stop true love!

We then went to Reservoir Park where we took lots of photos and they got to read their vows to each other. It wasn't what they had originally planned, but I am proud of them for making the best of the situation they were handed and deciding to face it side-by-side. And it was an honor to still be able to be there and capture the memories for those who couldn't be there. These photos have ten times more meaning to them (and me) because of that fact!

Beautiful bride and ring bearer

If you're a bride (or groom) currently and the COVID-19 pandemic is wreaking havoc on your upcoming wedding plans:

1) it's okay to grieve the loss of the dreams and plans you had in mind, but don't beat yourself up because you can't change the situation. Instead, choose to make the best of it!

2) it's also okay to proceed with your plans to get married, even though it will look different than you wanted.

Remember, at the end of the day, with whom do you want to be quarantined? Your husband/wife? If so, proceed with a small, simple, sweet wedding like these two did and you'll be fine. <3 We'll get through this together.

xoxo,

Valerie
